Hair Experiment Day 18

Ashley and me at the Mind Museum, Taguig.
  Water.

I now have to wash my hair with just water for a full month. Tuesday was the first day in this part of the 'no shampoo process'. It's kind of hard for those of us who don't have a shower in the bathroom because you really have to massage your scalp if you don't want the smell of sweat to stick. Especialy for us who take a bath after dance class... My scalp feels a little itchy but I read from Our Little Apartment that you can add tea tree oil. Experiment time!

I'm really trying to live healthier. It's actually very fun and rewarding! It makes me happy to know that I am healthy and well because of my choices and discipline. It's very empowering. Kind of cheesy maybe, but it's really how I feel. And it feels great!

The Mind Museum. One of my fave parts of our trip.
I get most of my organic fru-fru, like bodywash, from Human Nature. So glad that the Abreeza branch of Healthy Options has finally opened, Yogi tea is now more accessible, LoL ^_^ Puentespina Orchids in Agdao is also a great place to buy organic eggs, cheese, and the likes. They'r products are locally grown/made so that's plus points for me <3

Contrary to her comment on my first post of this experiment, my mom did not join me in my adventure. I think she's satisfied with the not-so-chemically-infused shampoo in Human Nature.

With Lil' Bro <3
About one week after quitting shampoo.
No difference, if you ask me.
Ta-ta for now, as Tigger would say, I'm excited to try out the tea tree oil! DO NOT hesitate to leave me a message on Facebook, send me a tweet, ask me on Tumblr, or leave a comment here :D

Livia Gil and The Ballerina Collection

If you watched the Prix de Lausanne last year, you would probably recognize Livia Gil as one of the winners. She won a scholarship to the English National Ballet and will be moving to London soon. I'm so happy for her; she's living a dream.

Sonia Gil, a visual artist, launched a fundraiser to support her daughter in her scholarship. Together, they created The Ballerina Collection; greeting cards, post cards, and prints. Their graffiti-ballerina combination seem perfect for all occasions.

I found out about their project when Sonia sent a message to The Balletomane and from Pointe to Pointe on Facebook [The Ballerina Collection has FB too!]. I must say, when I watched Livia's video [posted above], that I admire her style; she is not one of those stick thin, too flexible girls, but she is the healthy-looking, strong and fiery dancer :)

One of my favorites :)
I wish Livia all the luck with her scholarship! Congratulations, too! Great dancers come from the PDL <3

Goodbye Quotes #6

One of the very first quotes on dance that I learned. I originally posted it on Facebook with a photo of Svetlana Zakharova in rehearsal (taken by Marc Haegman). This pic, on the other had, was taken when Ballet Philippines came to Davao (link: A visit from Ballet Philippines). I'm not sure who this dancer is exactly ; all I know is that she's from BP (if you do, please let me know).

She likes!

Yes, yes, Lisa Macuja Elizalde, A Ballet Star has liked my Facebook page. Wow! I'm so proud :') LoL This is so very exciting...

Lisa Macuja Elizalde started Ballet at age eight, training under the Royal Academy of Dance (RAD) sylabus. She is much acclaimed due to her Russian Vaganova training and is the first Filipina to ever join the Kirov Ballet. She has received numerous awards and has participated in various competitions world wide. Her radio show, Art2Art,was awarded by the Catholic Mass Media Awards (CMMA) as 'the Best Educational Program in Radio category' She is the current artistic director of Ballet Manila.

Here's a link list to all things Lisa:

Blocking at CAP

Went to CAP Auditorium this morning to block the formation of Ballet 1b. I felt so tired when I woke up, I had to force myself out of bed. I think I fell asleep while doing my exercise :(  After 20 minutes in one position, I curled up on my side and fell asleep...

Going back to CAP this afternoon to block the formation of the Babies Ballet class and for the final dress tech. I hope there are no babies crying because they are sleepy today... -_- Miya (the kid who keeps asking me what my name is) has been crying like she's depressed for two or three rehearsals now :(  She still doesn't know what my name is...

Joe and Dianne, well, their feet...

Warming up...

Christine and Kuya Henry
The quality of my pics are getting worse. Is that possible?... For the quality of a camera to get worse over time? O.o

My First Theatre Performance

The Locsin dance Workshop's Theatre class
"Break a leg!" Ate Delphine said as she passed chocolates around to us right after our warm up yesterday. We all had a snack and (in my case) some Dinner at the canteen. There were only two of us wearing yellow in the whole ensemble. Teacher Agnes described my costume as "bright as the sunshine"...

We were only required to wear 'normal person' make up since the stage in Locsins isn't very big. I realized when I got home that I should have used the Jane Iredale foundation, since it's liquid and comes out thicker. I have been using a Max Factor foundation since December. The J.I. foundation has a more yellowish shade while the M.F. one is on the pink side... My favorite part of make up is eyes ^_^ I usually extend my eyeliner a little bit away from my eyelids, It looks cute :P I didn't apply any eyeliner underneath for the last two shows before this one, but I did last night. I read that this is the proper way to apply liner in The Ballet Companion.

The show was a success! I wish I invited more people :) After the curtain call, when we were all backstage we did a biiiggg group hug and cheered ourselves :D The only blooper I remember was when Kuya John said  "Mabuhay si Diwatakasilipan" (Long live Diwatakasilipan) in a voice that was corrupted by the urge to laugh. It sounded like it was said thru an electric fan... I was also having a hard time stopping my laughter during the 'Oracle' because of the answers and the laughing audience...

I can't figure out how to send the video of the show to my laptop, since my dad took it with his iPad... I'll try to post it as soon as I can :)

We were allowed to bring our masks home but the giant heads had to stay behind, in the 'museum' :D

Theatre is really fun. You just have to remember some rules, your corrections, your lines, and bring out the right emotions. It's basically the same for ballet, I guess, but with ballet there's technique. Plus because you'r using your whole body, and moving around a lot, ballet is waaay more exhausting... I'm considering Theatre over ballet... tuning into my emotions seems easier tan using the correct muscles to me O.o

Today is a bad day for my back... I wasn't able to do my exercise... I really should stop procrastinating -_- I do hope I heal...

Oberon arrived yesterday. He is Ballet Philippines' Timothy Cabrera. There was added choreography, more jumps...

I only found out last night that Locsins has an Official Facebook page :D You can find old photos there... How could I have not seen this before? Grrr!... Please like! :)) aaannnd, I also just saw this now:
Locsin Dance Workshop's A Dream, One Midsummer Night  in Run Thru Philippines' Website  :) Oh Yeah! I have a picture at a dance magazine! LoL :P

Do watch our recital :D

Friday Dance Club

I wasn't able to take pictures of the Hip Hop class I taught on Friday. It was the very first class I taught as a teacher and not as an assistant. I took it easy. Really easy, I thought they would find it too easy actually, but I think I overestimated them. They complained of  body pains the next day :)) Next week is Jazz. A lot of people are hesitant about dancing it, even if they've never tried. I guess because it isn't as popular as Hip Hop... My friend (and assistant) and I got a Facebook group up and running that very night. We posted videos of Jazz, just to inspire...
  I like being a teacher.

Beauty and the Beholder

"It is the small imperfections that make a thing beautiful."

Misty Copeland - take note of the super hyper
extended knees.

I just thought of this phrase on our way home from Sunday lunch. It's true, especially in ballet. It's just the same as "beauty is in the eye of the beholder." Take short torsos for example. A short torso and long legs are the ideal ballet form accompanied by hyper extended knees, arched feet and good flexibility. Try saying that to a non dancer. Freaky.

I posted a picture of Svetlana Zakharova on my Facebook page, The Balletomane, and one of my friends called her foot "distorted."  Before that I called it beautiful and amazing.
